How are the Awards judged?

Each Award category judging panel comprises representatives from industry and government and are appointed by PIRSA. The panel may include representatives from PIRSA, sponsors and a food industry expert which may be a previous winner.

Judges are selected for their knowledge and experience and also for their willingness to commit their time to the Awards program.

Written submissions and interviews are judged against the Australian Business Excellence Framework* and scored using a points system to ensure the highest quality, credibility and equal comparison of businesses.

Your written submission is weighted at 40% of the score while the interview is 60%.

The judges are looking for:

  • financially-sound businesses;
  • strategic business plans and processes;
  • passion and commitment to the food industry;
  • all questions clearly addressed.

All applications received are strictly confidential.

The selection by the judging panel of finalists and winners in each category is final.

*Judging is aligned with the Australian Business Excellence Framework and is used with the agreement of Business Excellence Australia (a division of Standards Australia).
