This year's brilliant winners...

Winners of the Premier's Food Awards 2006

The winners of the this year’s Premier’s Food Awards reflect the strength and diversity of the industry in SA, with winners from across a range of sectors, from large exporters through to small, boutique family businesses. A highlight of this year’s awards, was the elevation of San Remo Macaroni Company to the South Australian Food Industry Hall of Fame. Other winners include Woodside Cheesewrights for Best New Product with a winemakers goats milk cheese; Scalzi Produce for Innovation with its Yellow Truss Tomatoes; and The Brasserie at Hilton Adelaide for its services to the industry. 31-year-old Steven Marafiote took out the Young Leader Award for his work as the Managing Director of Australia Quality Plus, a new export company trading to Middle Eastern Markets. A brilliant night

Room decorA record number of 486 guests attended the Awards Presentation Gala Dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday 10 November 2006. Themed as ‘Sheer Brilliance’ the Adelaide Convention Centre was transformed into a gala banquet setting where white clothed long tables were immersed in gleaming colours of bright blue, orange and pink. Brilliant white light illuminated from diamond shaped centrepieces and highlighted the shimmering diamond shaped mirrors that ran the length of the tables. More...

Diamonds to envy...

An exclusive $1800 diamond and pearl necklace designed by Scott Anthony of preENVY Jewellers will be given away to one lucky guest at The Ninth Annual South Australian Premier's Food Awards. Terena Blanton, Managing Director of Cocolat a dual finalist at this years Awards brought along a truffle tree and modelled the necklace with Scott Anthony in the pureENVY store. More...

2006 Finalists announced...

Cocolat and pureENVY diamond and pearl necklaceRabbit schnitzels, bambini bocconcini and lobster medallions are some of the stars of this year’s Premier’s Food Award finalists. 26 finalists have just been selected, with winners to be announced at a gala dinner hosted by Premier Mike Rann, with TV chef Ian Parmenter, in November. Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Minister, Rory McEwen said this year’s finalists included small regional based family businesses through to export companies. More...

A brilliant launch...

The ‘Journey to Brilliance’ began with the launch of the Ninth Annual South Australian Premier’s Food Awards on 14 June. Rory McEwen, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries unveiled this year’s theme of ‘Sheer Brilliance’ to more than 60 VIP guests and food industry leaders. Brilliance was everywhere with the awards being launched at pureENVY Jewellery store, Monjava Coffee prepared by the State Barista Champion Candy Weiss and a cocktail breakfast by John and Justine of The Greedy Goose. A tantilizing range of delicacies including coffee crème brulee, oysters with champagne jelly and Parisian fruit salad were served along with Petaluma’s Croser sparkling wine. It was also announced that one lucky guest at this year's Awards Presentation Gala Dinner will win an exclusive one-off diamond and pearl necklace designed by Scott Anthony from pureENVY, valued at over $1850.
