Hindmarsh Valley Dairy in the Fleurieu Peninsula commenced in 2004 as an extension to the farm’s production of fine fibre and goat meat. It specialises in producing a range of goat milk cheeses and dairy products including yogurt and milk, based on traditional French and Swiss recipes. An additional line of goat cheese dips and spreads has been established using other regional produce. Hindmarsh Valley Dairy employs 2.5 full time staff, distributing to Queensland and is currently transitioning to organic farming practices.

The judges felt that Hindmarsh Valley Dairy and owner Denise Riches demonstrated excellence through value adding backed by excellent strategic business planning, HACCP systems and a thorough understanding of their markets and competitor products.

The judges were impressed with the way that Denise Riches supports the growth of Hindmarsh Valley Dairy by continually expanding product lines, investment into the use of wholesalers and distributors early in the progress of the business and the planned expansion into organics.

Judges were also impressed with the businesses ability to develop strong relationships within industry and with consumers.

Hindmarsh Valley Dairy also demonstrated a passion and commitment to the development of regional food culture and on top of that produce an exceptional range of quality gourmet products.
