Woodside Cheesewrights produce a range of goat and cow milk cheeses, specialising in handmade white mould cheeses. Established in 1993 and employing five full time staff, Woodside Cheesewrights sell to every state in Australia to restaurants, food service, gourmet shops, department stores and farmers’ markets. Their Vigneron Cheese is a goat milk cheese, marrying cheese and wine it is wrapped in vine leaves and washed with a wooded white wine.
The product presented, Vigneron (Winemakers cheese) a goat milk cheese was of high quality. It showcased the cheese and wine story - wrapped in vine leaves and washed with a wooded white wine – a unique positioning for the cheese.
The packaging and presentation had a quality finish and the judges found it outstanding and novel. The taste and texture of the cheese at maturity offers a strong sensory experience and the product has a good shelf life and offers convenience to the consumer in handling.
It showcases Artisan cheesemaking with a strong understanding of the target market. The market potential is high with the growing interest in the consumption of quality Artisan cheeses.
